Yerevan’s Blue Mosque to Host I’tikaf Ceremony

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Blue Mosque in Yerevan, capital of Armenia, will host Muslim worshipers who are going to attend I’tikaf (seclusion for worship in a mosque) on the 13th to 15th of the lunar month of Rajab (April 21-23).

According to yerevan.icro.ir, this is the third consecutive year in which the mosque hosts the spiritual ceremony for both men and women of the region.

The three-day ceremony will begin tomorrow night (April 20) with programs marking the birthday anniversary of Imam Ali (AS).

It will conclude on Saturday night with mourning programs on the demise anniversary of Hazrat Zeynab (SA).

Registration for attending I'tikaf is underway at the cultural office of the mosque. More people are expected to participate in the program this year than the previous years.

I'tikaf is a form of worship performed by staying in a mosque for a certain time. It is a tradition which has been in Islam from the first days of the Revelation.
