Hosseini came second in the international Quranic event’s category of recitation.
No reports have been released as of yet about winners in the memorization category.
The international contest started at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul on Friday.
As many as 120 Quran activists from 62 countries have been vying for the top prizes in the two categories.
With the conclusion of the first stage, 10 Qaris had made it to the final round in recitation. Iran’s Seyed Mostafa Hosseini was among them. The others were from Tunisia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Yemen, Turkey, Malaysia, Brunei, and Pakistan.
There were also ten contenders making it to the final round in memorization.
Representatives of Iran (Mostafa Esfahanian), Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco, Kenya, Kuwait and Jordan competed for the top prize in this category.
Winners will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony later on Wednesday.
The international Quranic event is annually organized by Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet).
