President Barham Salih said in his message that Ayatollah Sadr demonstrated the most beautiful pictures of self-sacrifice for freedom and awakening Iraqis to get liberated from oppression.
Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi said the principled and ethical stances of Martyr Sadr are examples for generations to remain steadfast in following the truth and standing up to oppressors, Mawazin News reported.
Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, also issued a message on the occasion, praising Martyr Sadr for his efforts to uphold the truth.
Ayatollah Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr was a Shia Marja’a (source of emulation). Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s Ba’athist regime killed him and his two sons in 1999.
