TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine is organizing Quran recitation programs during the blessed month of Ramadan in different countries.

The international center for the promotion of Quran, affiliated with the Astan is holding the programs, according to the center’s head Montazer al-Mansouri.

A total of 30 Khatm Quran programs in 10 countries are being held by the center, he said.

These events are being held in Indonesia, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Mali, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Kuwait, Australia, and Afghanistan.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity-giving, and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart this month.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
