IQNA – The second Global Day of Action for Gaza will be marked later this month with rallies in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip.

Palestine Solidarity Campaign director Ben Jamal declared February 17 as the second Global Day of Action for Gaza.

He said people in over 100 cities in the UK and some 60 other countries will take part in demonstrations on this day to voice solidarity with Gaza and call for a ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave.

The first Global Day of Action for Gaza was observed on Saturday, January 13, with a large number of people staging rallies in 120 cities in different countries.

Since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, there have been numerous protests held across the world to condemn the Zionists’ brutality and urge and end to the war.

At least 27,478 Palestinians have been killed and 66,835 others injured in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Monday.

“Most of the victims were children and women,” the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, at least 113 people have been killed and 205 others injured in Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours alone.

“Many of the victims are still trapped under rubble and on the road and rescuers can’t reach them,” it added.

The Israeli offensive has left 85% of Gaza’s population internally displaced amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
