TEHRAN (IQNA) – A University of London professor underlined the accomplishments of the Islamic Revolution of Iran over the past decades, noting that the achievements have been made despite all pressures and sanctions.

Addressing an international webinar on the Islamic Revolution’s achievements, Ali Ramadan al-Awsi said the success has been made possible thanks to the resistance and steadfastness of the Iranian nation.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran taught us how nations can have faith in themselves, the talents of their youths and their local and national potentials,” the head of the Center for Southern Iraq Studies said.

He added that the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation managed to turn the threat of sanction into opportunities for progress and development.

Al-Awsi also highlighted Iran’s democratic processes, saying all those ruling in the country are elected directly or indirectly by the people.

“In a few months, the Islamic Republic of Iran will hold its 13th presidential election, which is a great source of pride and a sign of great stability in the country thanks to remaining faithful to the principles founded by Imam Khomeini (RA).”

The scholar referred to the progress in scientific, industrial, medical and defense fields, the growing number of students studying at universities, stability and security, peaceful transfer of power, and support for resistance movements in the region as other accomplishments of the Islamic Republic.

The “Islamic Revolution; Reflections, Perspective and Emerging Issues” was held on Wednesday, ahead of the 42nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

It was organized by the Research Institute of Imam Khomeini and Islamic Revolution, in cooperation with the International Quran News Agency (IQNA) and Ahl-ul-Bayt International University.

A number of scholars and thinkers from Iran, Lebanon, the UK, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Iraq delivered speeches at the online event, discussing different aspects of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the Islamic Republic.

Every year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran marks the beginning of the Ten Day Fajr (Ten Days of Dawn), which culminates with rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 42 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
