TEHRAN (IQNA) – The registration process for Iranians who seek to visit the holy religious sites in Iraq during the Nowruz holidays can fill the required forms online.

According to the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, the pre-registration phase started today and will go through for a week at the body's website.

The final registration will be conducted on March 2 and 3. The process of pilgrims’ travel to Iraq will start on March 16.

According to the organization, all of the travels will be made by air.

Tens of thousands of Iranians visit holy shrines in Iraq every year, especially during the months of Muharram and Safar.

However, the Iranian New Year holidays, known as Nowruz (or Noruz), become a good opportunity for some to visit Iraq.

These trips have been limited in the past two years with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
