Miniature Exhibition, Workshop Staged by Iranian Artist in Russia

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Reza Badr as-Sama, a prominent Iranian artist, had recently held a workshop and exhibition on Iranian-Islamic art of miniature at a center in Russia.

 

Titled “Contemporary Iranian miniature”, the exhibition and workshops was held on November 14-16 at the Oriental Culture Centre of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

It was organized by the Ibn Sina Foundation in cooperation with the Oriental Culture Centre at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Oriental Literature Centre at the Russian State Library and the Afanasi Nikitin Association.

The opening ceremony was held on November 14 with attendance of people as well as officials.

During the opening ceremony, the speeches were delivered by Lana Rawandi-Fadai, Head of the Oriental Culture Centre, Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences; Hamid Hadavi, President of Ibn Sina Foundation; Kazem Jalali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Alikber Alikberov, Director of the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; Nadezhda Skirda, Executive Director of the Afanasiy Nikitin Association and also Reza Badr as-Sama.

The speakers thanked the organizers and visitors of the exhibition and emphasized the importance of maintaining cultural ties between Russia and Iran.

On 15-16 November the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies held a number of workshops devoted to floral patterns and drawing of birds in miniature. The guests also had a chance to meet the miniature painter Reza Badr as-Sama in a very lively atmosphere. The guests created their first miniatures, talked to the miniaturist and took pictures.
