Iranian Delegation Attends World Islamic Forum in Moscow
Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari and Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hajiabolqassem, who represented Iran’s president, were among the participants at the gathering, according to the Moscow-based Ibn Sina Islamic Studies Foundation.
Hojat-ol-Islam Hajiabolqassem read out a message from Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi at the opening session of the forum.
Held on December 7-10, it summed up celebrations of the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria state.
The Ibn Sina Foundation, which is a scholarly, religious and cultural center, was among the participants.
It held an exhibition of its books on the sidelines of the event, which was welcomed by the partakers.
Many religious figures addressed the international forum, including Russian mufti, Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, who called for a just world order from the standpoint of the East.
Chairman of the Turkish Department of Religious Affairs Ali Erbash spoke about the connection between justice and security.
Furthermore, Palestinian President's Advisor for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash accused Israel and the US of violating international law. The main two words, justice and a new world order, became the leitmotif of the plenary session.
Back in 1881, the Russian Muslim thinker and educator Ismail Bey Gasprinsky wrote that in the near future Russia will be destined to become one of the significant Muslim states which will not diminish its significance as a great Christian power.
Russia is celebrating the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the people of Volga Bulgaria, marking the significance of Islam in the country. The year is commemorated with the participation of representatives from dozens of Muslim countries during various events.
The anniversary is also an opportunity for Russia to strengthen its ties with participating Muslim countries that have been isolated by the West.
