Earlier this week, the Omani parliament voted to expand a law banning relations and contracts with the Israeli regime in a yet new blow to the normalization project.
The 86-member Majlis al-Shura, or Consultative Assembly, on Monday voted to amend the first clause of its Israel boycott law to include any sports, cultural or economic contact for private and public figures.
The amendment also specifically bans in-person or online interaction with Israeli settlers.
In a statement released on Friday, Hamas said the move signifies the genuineness of Oman’s historical stances in support of the Palestinian people and the cause of Palestine.
It called on the parliaments of other Arab and Muslim countries to do the same and criminalize any ties and any attempts at normalization of relations with the Zionist regime.
Normalization of ties with the occupying regime would only embolden it to commit more crimes against the Palestinian people and the Muslim and Christian sanctities of Palestine, Hamas said.
