150,000 Jordanian Students Taking Summer Quranic Courses

AMMAN (IQNA) – Jordan’s Awqaf ministry has launched Quranic courses for school students during the summer holidays.

Hundreds of Quranic centers will host the free Quranic courses for boys and girls, Awqaf Minister Mohammad Khalayleh said.

He said they feature lessons on memorization of the Quran and are aimed at elevating Quranic culture among the students.

The courses are free and have been received well by families across the country, he noted.

Omar al-Mahmouri, head of the Awqaf department in the city of Irbid, said those taking the courses also learn prophetic Hadiths, lessons about Fiqh, stories of prophets, ethical lessons and Islamic teachings.

He said those willing to benefit from the educational programs can refer to the mosques near their home.

The classed are held three days a week and the costs are covered by charitable

Jordan is a Muslim-majority country in the Middle East. Followers of Islam make up around 95 percent of the country’s population.
