It was held by the Society for Serving the Quran and Its Sciences, also known as Huffaz, Al-Wasat news website reported.
Khatm Quran refers to reading the Holy Book from the beginning to the end.
Ahmed al-Murshid, the society’s deputy manager, said the program is annually held with the aim of encouraging people to read the Holy Book.
He said people from all age groups take part in the online event and this year the number of participants reached 40,000.
Al-Murshid added that the society also organizes other Quranic programs featuring Quran memorization for teenagers, recitation for children, memorization for women and Quranic circles.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar in which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart in this month.
